Route 1 - Scenic Route - accessible with car

Embark on a scenic journey to the Garden Route Trail House, your ultimate self-catering retreat nestled in the heart of nature. Our convenient location, just 28 minutes (25.5 km) from Sedgefield, offers an easily accessible escape from the everyday hustle.
Your adventure begins on the N2, leading you through picturesque landscapes. As you turn onto Karatara Road and continue onto Barrington Road, you’ll be treated to breathtaking farm landscapes that set the stage for your unforgettable stay. Please check out for any cows in the road, please be patient when they are on the road.
The final leg of your journey takes you through the charming Farleigh Station Village, where you’ll catch your first glimpse of the history of the landcapes. Follow our detailed directions, and within moments, you’ll arrive at your home away from home.
When you are driving from George’s side, drive through Sedgefield for 3.7km, turn left at the Garden Route Trail Park Sign into Karatara Rd.
When you are driving from Knynsa’s side, just before Sedgefield, turn off right at the Garden Route Trail Park Sign into Karatara Rd.
Continue straight until you reach a crossing in Seven Passes Road.
You can enter “Garden Route Trail House” on your Google Maps, but please follow the directions as soon when you arrive on the gravel road. As the Google Maps directions will take you through the 2nd route, which is not accessible with a car.
- Head east on N2 for 3.7 km (if you are driving from Sedgefield)
- Turn left onto Karatara Rd and continue straight for 4.3 km, do not turn off anywhere.
- Continue straight in the same road, Barrington Rd for 13.4 km, do not turn off anywhere until you reach the crossing in Seven Passes Road
- Turn right onto Seven Passes Rd (85 m) – Gravel Road (at the green direction sign, go left which directs to Knysna)
- Turn left onto Farleigh Rd – the first turn-off in Seven Passes Road (you can follow the Google Maps location up to this part) – Gravel Road
- Continue straight for about 2 km until you reach the Farleigh Forest Station Village
- Slight left at Farleigh Station Village
From Farleigh Station Village – Gravel Road, you’re just 6 minutes (2.1 km) away from your destination. Follow these final steps and see the photos below for guidance.
- Turn left into the village and drive through the village
- Continue straight
- Turn left, at the first fork in the road
- Then continue straight
- Turn left at the 2nd fork in the road.

Our remote location offers unparalleled tranquility and natural beauty, but it also means limited access to nearby stores. To ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, we urge you to plan ahead and bring ample supplies.
Route 2 - Farm Road, very rocky, not really accessible with car
While this route offers breathtaking views of the farm, please note that this road may require opening and closing electrical fences where cows graze. Not the recommended route.

Directions to Garden Route Trail House:
From the N2, embark on a picturesque journey via Barrington Rd to Farleigh Rd
Duration: 17 minutes (21.4 km) – Smooth Tar Road
- Head east on N2 for 3.7 km (if you are driving from Sedgefield)
- Turn left onto Karatara Rd and continue straight for 4.3 km, do not turn off anywhere.
- Continue straight in the same road, Barrington Rd for 13.4 km, do not turn off anywhere until you reach the crossing in Seven Passes Road
- Turn right onto Seven Passes Rd (85 m) – Gravel Road
- Turn left onto Farleigh Rd – the first turn-off in Seven Passes Road – Gravel Road
- The final leg of your journey on Farleigh Rd Duration: 7 minutes (2.9 km) – Gravel Road adventure (high-clearance vehicle recommended)
- Turn left onto Farleigh Rd, traversing 1.1 km of scenic farmland
- Take another left for 1.3 km, surrounded by the grazing fields and cows
- Veer slightly left for 100 m, following the natural contours
- Turn right for 150 m, approaching your destination
- Make a final right turn and drive 230 m – the Trail House awaits on your right
